About Lembic
Lembic is a small Mac app with one job: turn an iMessage thread into a clean transcript you can hand to your own AI. Lembic never uploads your messages.
Why I built it
She is going through a hard divorce, and the other person will only talk one way: by iMessage. To keep her footing, and to keep an eye on her own tone, she was copying messages into ChatGPT one at a time.
She asked a simple question: could ChatGPT see their whole history at once, so it understood the full pattern of how he talks to her? I went looking. Everything I found cost real money or took real technical skill. There was no simple, private way to do it, so I built one.
For messages like hers, privacy is not a nice-to-have. The last place those texts should end up is on some company’s server.
Lembic never uploads your messages. They leave your Mac only when you copy or export them. The app goes online only to check your license and to look for updates.
The code that reads your messages is open source. You don’t have to take my word for it. Read it.
